In our newly remodeled kitchen we wanted an efficient way to remove cooking odors and steam from our cooking surface but didn’t wanted overhead hood. This appliance accomplishes that very efficiently & good looking too.
Works Well

I replaced an older model downdraft and like the new one very much. It comes up higher than my old one and collects more of the smells and steam.
Downdraft Review

Happy with the product. Works well with the cooktop burners closest to the downdraft. Not as well with the burners further away unless fan on high.
Never worked for more than a couple weeks

Have talked to customer service and they offered to repair the pop up after getting an assessment from a repair shop. The parts were on the way for about three months and then finally i get an email from the installer that the replacement parts cannot be obtained. After contacting customer service again, they advised that they would only sell me a new one at a reduced cost and that i would have to pay for the installation myself. The original pop up fan is still not working, and i do not wish to replace it with another pop up as i fear it will not work just like the last one. I have zero confidence that my complaint will be resolved. I strongly feel that if KitchenAid offered to repair my fan and are not able to do so, then they should replace it with a new one, AND warranty the install. The original one had been a problem since installation. Not happy.
disappointing

I was told this would take less space underneath my cabinet and draw better than the 25 year old Kenmore I had. NOT SO. It is ugly when it is up, does not draw nearly as well and takes up much more underneath space than the other.
