Boiling in plastic interior is deal breaker

This is great kettle except for one major flaw, the plastic interior. No matter what high quality plastic it might be but it's still "plastic" and you never know when it'll start contaminating water. I would expect it to be stainless steel inside.

Saw the proline series at The Bay after seeing them online. My small town does not have any stores to look at them in person so I had to see them in Ottawa. I like to see in person before I buy anything. Well, I saw that Kitchenaid had a father’s day sale, so I bought this kettle then. I’m kicking my butt for not buying the pro line toaster at the same time, because when I went back to order it during the same sale, the black was sold out... you snooze you lose! Anyway, I love this kettle! The look of it to me has a vintage vibe with a modern led light twist on the base of this kettle. I love the fact that I can control the temperature of the water. (I have grandkids who don’t like really hot drinks, like hot chocolate etc. I also don’t like my drinks very hot, so being able to control it is great!) I should mention that it’s cool enough to touch the outside of the pot, even after the water has been boiled, and the pouring of the water is fantastic too...no dripping back! When I first got it out of the box, I thought it was broken, because the lid wouldn’t pop up. Not the case; the lid just needed a little help to unseal the first time with my fingernail, since it was packed in into its box nice and tight. The side “window” where you see the measurements for the water stays moist for a long enough time. That might cause some build-up over time I’m thinking... I hope not, but we shall see. The only thing I can think of to make this kettle better, would be to have the cord retract into the base some how? It’s a big heavy duty cord, so I’m not sure how they could make that happen, but at least most of it tucks away under the base. (I don’t keep things plugged in) I get so many compliments on this kettle from friends and family. It also looks great next to my Kitchenaid mixer as well. If you have been thinking about buying it, go ahead and treat yourself! It’s definitely a high quality product that I’m sure you’re going to love for a very long time.
