I bought my LW2521ERSM because I needed the largest unit I could find that would fit a window. This one fit the bill and worked well for the first season albeit much more loud than I expected. About two months into the current season about 11 months since I purchased it and still under warranty I started having problems. First it froze up and I unplugged it for a while to melt then when plugged back in the compressor would keep running when the power was turned off on the control panel. Turns out the control board main relay went bad. I would have thought that the description of the problem would be sufficient to determine the parts needed. Instead I had to wait for a week and a half for a service technician to show up and diagnose the problem but I was assuming he would already have the correct repair parts on hand. From my past experiences working with AC systems and appliances I was able to figure out what the problem was on my own so I figured the same would apply for LG and the service company but that wasnt the case. The technician did order the needed parts control module and they arrived about two days later. Now the bigger problem for me was that the weather was hot and I needed to have working AC soon. However the technician was only in my area on Mondays. That would have been something I could have worked with since I had to purchase additional window units as a workaround but it gets worse. The following Monday was a non-working holiday for the repair company. The Monday after that is apparently inventory day for the technicians so that placed my next visit for getting the parts installed the week after that right at a month after the problem first occurred. Knowing that I would likely experience this same issue in the future I decided to locate the control board to have on hand. I was disappointed to find that he board has had several revisions and is currently extremely hard to locate. That tells me that the part is in very high demand and that it is a common failure point for larger LG window units. The control module I received was apparently removed from another unit probably a new pull part which further confirms the scarcity of control board inside the control module housing. I still havent been able to source the correct part on my own and Im still waiting for the repairs to my unit to be completed. Unacceptable I am unable to select any other answer in order to be entered into the sweepstakes but I did NOT receive this product free or at a discounted price in exchange for my honest opinion but would like to receive a sweepstakes entry for my review.
